Delicious Spicy Bacon Wrapped Smokies

No party would be complete while not the appetisingness of bacon-wrapped very little smokies… however I’ve taken that one step more with a spiced refined sugar rub that renders them completely mouthwatering!  Bake them for game day, a party, or simply an off-the-cuff night in! simply five ingredients!

You guys, this is often my favorite time of year.  Not only for the chillier days, sweatshirts, bonfires, and every one things pumpkin… except for soccer!!  I’ve continually been an enormous football fan, for each the sport and also the FOOD!

Game day foods are simply the most effective aren’t they?  They’re thus comforting and fun!  It’s extremely exhausting on behalf of me to select a favourite, however one that ranks pretty high on the list are these very little smokies!

Most everybody has had very little smokies at some purpose in their lives.. whether or not they’ve been wrapped in bacon or simmered in bbq sauce within the slow cooking utensil. i made a decision that my love of all things sweet/spicy required to increase to these!  And after all, everything is healthier with bacon right?!

Delicious Spicy Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz package of little smokies (or small cooked sausages) I use Hillshire Farm brand
  • 15 slices bacon, each cut into 3 smaller sections
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper more or less, according to your tastes
  • pinch of black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare a jelly roll pan (or large baking sheet with a rim), with a layer of aluminum foil, lightly coated with non-stick cooking spray.  Set aside.  Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
  2. Pat sausages dry with a paper towel and wrap each individual sausage with a piece of the cut bacon.  Secure with a toothpick.
  3. Add brown sugar, cayenne and black pepper to a large resealable plastic bag.  Use a spoon to combine the sugar with seasonings.  Add several bacon wrapped sausages, seal bag and shake gently to coat.  Repeat with all remaining sausages.
  4. Line sugar rubbed sausages on prepared baking sheet and bake 30 -35 minutes, until bacon is browned.  For some extra crispness, broil for a couple of minutes after baking.
